About the facility – Cheyenne River Service Unit In January 2012, the Eagle Butte Hospital in Eagle Butte South Dakota, was replaced with a newly constructed alternative rural health center. This is a modern, technologically advanced facility with enough space and staff to provide an expanded level of health care services specifically designed to meet the needs of the Cheyenne River Service Unit population. The new facility has an 8 bed acute nursing unit, 2 bed low risk birthing unit, emergency room, expanded outpatient department, dental, community health department and a full array of ancillary (including mammography) and support services. Additionally, several tribally operated programs are incorporated into the new facility. The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe through a 638 contract with HIS, operated four satellite health stations which offer basic ambulatory services at Cherry Creek, Red Scaffold, Swiftbird, and Whitehorse. Nurse Practitioner: Responsibilities (listed are included but not limited to)

• The Nurse Practitioner is responsible and accountable for the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patient problems, including the prescription of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
• Scope of practice includes advanced nursing patient assessment and diagnosis.
• Conducts advanced practice registered nursing based on knowledge and skills acquired throughout nursing education, training, and experience.
• The Nurse Practitioner orders diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures, performs tests and procedures using healthcare equipment, and interprets and uses the results of diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures ordered by the advanced practice registered nurse or another healthcare professional.
• Authorizes treatments, orders or applies appropriate medical devices, and utilizes nursing, medical, therapeutic, and corrective measures to treat illness and enhance health status.
• Provides palliative and end-of-life care.
• The Nurse Practitioner delivers advanced counseling, patient education, health education, and patient advocacy.

Nurse Practitioner: Requirements

• Must have a master's degree in nursing.
• Must have a current and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia.
• Must have a current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification from a provider recognized by the American Heart Association.
• Must have a minimum of two years experience.
