Job Title: Occupational Therapist Profession: Therapy/Rehabilitation Specialty: Acute Care Client Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (08:00 - 16:30) Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS, NBCOT Must-Have: ICU experience, LVAD/heart transplant experience Description: Acute Care setting focusing on ICU and Occupational Therapy support for heart surgery patients. The position requires working every 4th weekend. There is no call requirement associated with this role. Flexibility to float within the facility/scope of practice as needed. Candidates with 1 year of experience will be considered. The unit accepts first-time travelers. Candidates will undergo a clinical screen to determine fit for the role. If the clinical screen is passed and meets the guidelines, candidates will be forwarded for the final decision. If a major holiday falls within the assignment period, travelers are expected to work it. Travelers are expected to work two holidays if three major holidays fall during the assignment period. Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day. Full compliance is required to start on time. All compliance documents must be submitted prior to starting the position. The daily patient census for the unit is projected to be around 8. Job responsibilities include assessing and implementing treatment plans for patients recovering from surgery. Candidates should have skills in acute care, activities of daily living, biofeedback, cardiac rehabilitation, and other relevant therapies. Experience with feeding techniques, electrical stimulation, and various splinting methods is highly recommended. Assist in patient mobility and safety to prevent injury. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams will be essential in providing optimal patient care. This role requires a compassionate approach towards adult and geriatric populations.
